Simone Arcagni is Associate Professor at the University of Palermo. Cinema, video, media and new technologies scholar and critic. He collaborates with “Nòva – Il Sole 24 Ore”, “Oxygen”, “Technonews”, “Agorà”, “Home!”, “Segnocinema” and other scientific and scientific reporting reviews . He hold a blog called Postcinema on the journalistic site «Il Sole 24 Ore». He is the Director of “Screencity Journal” and “EmergingSeries Journal”.

Born in Turin, 1967. Degree in Philosophy. From 1990 to 1994 he worked at the Museum of Cinema of Torino in organizing reviews and retrospectives. EAVE and Eurodoc graduated, he is Board member of Eurodoc and Documentary in Europe. In 1992 co-founded Zenit Arti Audiovisive and produced awarded documentaries, factual programs and cross-platform project for the main national and international broadcasters (Rai, Mediaset, Sky, Fox Arte, Zdf Discovery Channel, History Channel, Rsi, Yle Dr, Sbs, Cbc…). Since 2014 is member of the board of directors of the Italian Doc Screenings. He has been head of studies of the Videodesign course at Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin and works as an expert in professional workshops, universities and master-schools.
JAN DIRK BOUW
Jan Dirk is a writer, director and filmmaker from the Netherlands whose multi award winning documentary debut I LOVE HOOLIGANS (2013) was screened at more than 180 international film festivals including DOK Leipzig, ZagrebDox and Clermont-Ferrand. It was also broadcast on ARTE Germany/France, SBS Australia and VRT Belgium.
His background is in art, graphic design and marketing, which he studied in Utrecht (NL) and London. Since moving into documentary filmmaking in 2007 he’s been directing films that tell stories with social, humanitarian and emotional depth.
In 2010 he was selected for the Binger Filmlab Docucoach programme led by Dutch director and filmmaker Heddy Honigmann and in 2015 for the European Social Documentary (ESoDoc) workshop where he developed his latest project Breaking Walls. In 2015 I was commissioned by the Goethe Institute Lithuania and selected by the Dutch Film and Media Fund to write and direct new documentary projects.
Raffaele Brunetti is a producer and director of documentary films. Since 1988, he has been involved in the production of more than 100 documentaries in Italy and across the world. Films he has directed have been distributed in 160 countries. Documentaries he has co-produced with European broadcasters have been shown in cinemas and on TV as well at major festivals including IDFA, HOT DOCS, Full Frame and Festival dei Popoli.
He has received numerous awards, including the Award for Creative Excellence at the US International Film Festival, the Golden Globe, the Ondas award for Best Documentary in 2009, the Jury Award at the Guanghzou festival and two major nominations (BANFF and Shanghai). He is a member of the Italian Foreign Press Association and of the board of European Documentary Network (EDN). He is a member of DOC/IT, the Italian Documentary Filmmakers Association, and has run Italian Doc Screenings, the Italian documentary showcase event.
Sabine Bubeck-Paaz is a commissioning editor at ZDF (German public broadcaster) for various documentary slots on ARTE, the European Culture Channel.
The TV department “Thema”, where she is deputy head of, is dealing with One Offs, Season programming, Theme Evenings, the documentary series “ARTE Discovery” and Cross Media Projects.
The investigative and creative documentary projects, she is involved in are mostly international coproductions.

Graduated with honour at the Academy of Fine Arts of Turin, he established himself as a producer, artist creative and film-maker. Throughout the years he worked for several production companies in Rome, Turin and London, among which are IntelFilm, Movimento Film, Seven Dreams, LittleFischFilm. In 2007, together with friends and professionals, all with an eye for quality projects, he co-founded Indyca, an independent production company based in Turin. Within Indyca, he produced or directed several short films, including “MONday –il mio giorno” starring Alessandro Gassman, “Onde Corte” produced and interpreted by Maria Grazia Cucinotta, “Elena” by Salvo Bitonti with Franco Nero.
Indyca has produced documentaries, mockumentaries and feature films like “A scrap of Paradise” by G. Vacis, “My Journey to Meet You” by Marco S. Puccioni (best EDN project “Doc on Air” – Docs in Thessaloniki 2012), “smoKings” by M. Fornasero (Best Italian Film – Festival dei Popoli 2014 / Jury prize – Visions du Reel 2014). Currently, through Indyca, he’s producing the documentaries “Happy Winter”, “the Killer and the butterfly” and “Samia”, developed with the support of Creative Europe and his film “Drive Me Home”. In 2016 he produced “Imprisoned Lullaby” by R. Schillaci, “The Colour of Grass” by Juliane Biasi Hendel and “Becoming Zlatan” by F. and M. Gertten, distributed in Italy by 01 Distribution. Simone attended master training like EURODOC in 2011 and EAVE in 2013. In 2011, after 15 years of production experience, Agnese Fontana founded LE TALEE an independent production company based in Rome, Italy, and produced in association with Kaos Cinematografica and Stemal Entertainment “Caesar Must Die” by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani – the film won the Golden Bear in the Berlinale 2012.
In 2013 she produced Magicarena, a documentary feature film by Andrea Prandstraller and Niccolò Bruna, World Premiére 36 Cairo International film festival 2014. Seattle, Minneapolis, Bari, Biarritz, Vladivostok, Vancouver, Milwaukee, Victoria.
She produced among others films and documentaries: Il caso martello by Guido Chiesa, Anime fiammeggianti by Davide Ferrario, Babylon (Lies to Live By) by Guido Chiesa. In 2015 she was elected President of Doc/it, the Italian Documentary Association.

Fredrik Gertten is an award-winning Swedish director and journalist.
His films BIKES vs CARS (2015), BIG BOYS GONE BANANAS!* (2012) and BANANAS!* (2009) have met an audience in over 80 countries including leading festivals such as Sundance, Berlinale, Hot Docs, Toronto, IDFA, Amsterdam, Melbourne IFF, Sao Paulo IFF, and Sheffield. Since its world premiere at South By Southwest in March 2015, Bikes vs Cars has been screened over 1000 times in 50 countries. The film has won several awards, including Best Film at Italy’s Cinemambiente, Best Feature at the San Francisco Green Film Festival and UK Green Film Festival’s Audience Award.
Heidi Gronauer is director of ZeLIG school for documentary, head of project of the European training project for makers of social-awareness documentaries and cross-media projects, known as ESoDoc – European Social Documentary and the Media-Mundus/International projects ZeLIG realized in India and Africa (LINCT; ESoDoc INDIA; ESoDoc International).
She has worked in Italy since 1987, when she collaborated with Trento Cinema International Encounters with Music for Cinema, organized theater series and cultural exchanges between Germany and Italy, including concept of Adventure in Europe–City of Berlin Project, Pirati Teatrali and concept of the school theater series Teatrando … in lingua straniera.
She is co-founder of the Italian documentary association doc-it. She has been on various Festivaljuries, she is member of the selection committee of the Trento Filmfestival, the commission of experts of the South Tyrolean Filmfund IDM and of the EFA (European Filmacademy).

Vassiliki Khonsari is the coFounder of iNK Stories, a New York City based studio that embraces innovation within storytelling. Independent Magazine called Vassiliki among “10 Filmmakers to watch in 2015”. Prior to establishing iNK Vassiliki received her MA in Visual Anthropology (UK). In New York City she directed and produced documentary content for broadcast TV (ESPN, TLC, Vh1, Oxygen, MTV, Sundance, Discovery, Bravo). Her feature independent documentaries including: Pindemonium (Sundance Channel), Our House (20+film festivals, Awards, Art house Theatrical), Pulling John (SXSW Premiere, 20+film festivals, Awards, Broadcast in 15+ countries). Co-Creator of 1979 Revolution, iNK’s latest coup is called, “A truly revolutionary game” by the New Yorker.
1979 is a narrative adventure video game based on the real events of the revolution in Iran— the genre defining first title in a series of edgy, real stories by iNK coined Verite Games. Sibylle Kurz is a merchant and psychologist by training. She has working experience in the music and event business as well as in film licensing, acquisition and distribution for the German film- and television market. Additionally she has an academic background in media- and communication science, sociology and psychology and a postgraduate education as communication skills trainer and Certified NLP-Trainer (INLPTAssociational standards).
Since 1994 she freelances as a coach and communication trainer for the media-, arts- & culture industries, with specializing expertise in “The Art Of Pitching”. The sector “Arts & Culture” includes artists, painters, musicians and composers, anyone who is trying to position his idea/concept in the “cultural market” making it accessible to audiences.
Sibylle teaches „The Art of Pitching“ since 20 years at acclaimed national and international film schools.

Wendy is the Executive Director of the National Alliance for Media Arts And Culture. She is also the founder and director of New Arts Axis and a Senior Consultant with the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program. In 2012, Wendy co-founded Sparkwise, an online data and story platform funded by the MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She is the recipient of the 2013 Princess Grace Statue Award for distinguished contribution to the media arts field.
From 2004 – 2011, Wendy was Creative Director at BAVC where she led the Producers Institute for New Media Technologies and numerous other programs. During her tenure in 2011, BAVC was the recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Award for Creative and Effective Institutions. Wendy has been a featured speaker and moderator at the United Nations, Sundance, Skoll World Forum, and SXSW, among many other venues. Leena Pasanen started her career as a journalist in 1988 at the Finnish News Agency, first as a reporter and later on as a political commentator from the Parliament house. In 1993 she joined YLE, Finnish Broadcasting Company, where she worked as a reporter, political commentator, subeditor and TV presenter for the current affairs magazine programme on YLE TV1. After that she was the head of documentaries for YLE TV1 in 1999-2000.
When YLE launched new digital channels, she was chosen as the Head of Programmes responsible for cultural, factual and fiction programmes in YLE Teema, a channel focusing on culture, science and education. She stayed with the channel until November 2005, when she started working as the Director of EDN, European Documentary Network in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2008 she returned to YLE in Finland as Coordinator of Programmes and at YLE Fact and Culture and later as Coordinator and Senior Advisor at YLE Media and Customer Relations. In 2011 – 2014 she worked in Budapest, Hungary leading the Finnish Institute and also serving as cultural attaché at the Finnish Embassy in Budapest. She is currently based in Leipzig, Germany and working as Managing and Artistic Director of DOK Leipzig, the international film festival for documentary and animated film. She has been a regular expert, tutor and lecturer at several training programmes, for example EDN, Discovery Campus, EURODOC and Television Business School. She was a EURODOC 1999 graduate and a member of the international advisory committee at Hot Docs. She has also been a board member of IDFA Forum, INPUT and the Bonnier’s Journalistic Award in Finland and served as a jury member at several international festivals, among others Sundance and IDFA.
For 12 years, Bruno Smadja loves to create innovative and creative events dedicated to filmmakers and producers.
In 2005, Bruno Smadja has created the Mobile Film festival around an unique concept : 1 Mobile, 1 Minute, 1 Film. This international film festival gives great opportunities to young filmmakers. In 2015, the United Nations asked the Mobile Film Festival to organize a special edition about Climate Change for the COP21. 750 filmmakers from 70 countries have submitted a film. Thanks to the 75 selected films, we reached 17 million views in 2 months.
In 2010, Bruno Smadja has created Cross Video Days that have become the leading financing market for digital content in Europe. Every year, more than 30 countries are represented, more than 250 projects in development are submitted and the major European media are attending as commissioners (BBC, Arte, Canal +, Channel 4, ZDF, Rai, Red Bull,…).
For 2 years, Cross Video Days are focusing on Virtual Reality.
Born in Johannesburg (South Africa) in 1955, he studies Architecture in Torino -Italy. After graduating is responsible for film and TV production in the Architecture audio-visual laboratory of the POLITECNICO DI TORINO becoming head of production. In 1985 he founds, with others, STEFILM working as a director and producer.
Today STEFILM produces high quality films for television and cinema and is committed to create documentary programming which brings Italian themes and talent to the rest of the world.
The aim is to re-establish a thriving documentary culture in Italy.

Luca Vullo is a writer, director and producer based between London and Los Angeles who has realized powerful documentaries well received and recognized internationally. The first successful documentary is “Dallo Zolfo al Carbone“ (From Sulphur to Coal) released in 2008, a social anthropological film on the consequences of the 1946 Italo-Belgian Pact, and the life of Sicilian miners in Belgium after WWII.As expert of Italian gestures and of nonverbal communication, Luca Vullo wrote and directed a documentary about the Sicilian gestures titled “La Voce del Corpo“ (The Voice of the Body) in 2011 that has received very warm responses worldwide and won many awards. More recently, Luca Vullo has been filming in London a new documentary entitled “INFLUX” about Italian immigration in the UK, such hot social topic of the moment after the BREXIT. In 2016 Luca Vullo also received award for “The communication of the Italian culture abroad” in TAO Taormina Fashion AWARDS.
